3 Quick Tips to Grow Your Business
In this post I am skipping the fluff and going straight to actionable quick tips that you can implement immediately to grow your business.
Every very sucessful business owner I know has one thing in common: They have learned to think differently than other, less profitable business owners.
When I discovered how to think more like they do, everything began to change and I my income easily increased. I am not blaming you because, most likely, no one taught you or me how to think like a business owner. Instead, in school they asked what I wanted to “be” when I grew up. So I selected a job since I had no idea that I could be a business owner. Society taught us to get a job rather than to own a business.
My income has been consistently increasing now for over a decade all because I shifted my mindset.
When you actually learn the process of thinking like a very successful business owner, you will in fact build that business you have been dreaming of.
Having a market-dominating position is the foundation of every successful business. Yet, very few businesses really have one.
In my first business, I never had one. I looked like everyone else in my industry and I provided the same products/services as everyone else in my industry. I was having trouble getting enough qualified prospects because there was no compelling reason for people to do business with me. When I realized that I didn’t stand-out in my industry, I decided to create a marketing dominating position. This became the focus of my base positioning statement. You must have this as your base message and then broadcast this loud and clear to all of your target prospects.
When I stopped using platitudes like “best value”, “highest quality” and other such nonsense that didn’t impress anyone and made a claim no other business like mine made, I began to grow my business quickly. You must craft your market dominating position to quickly separate your business from all the others and become the logical choice to do business with. When done properly, this becomes the basis for all of your marketing and advertising. In fact, I call it your million-dollar message because it has the potential to make you a million.
The typical business card usually only has your name, email address and a telephone number on it. It does not do anything to continue to nurture the interest your million-dollar message creates. It fails to create any additional leads for your business or to compel a qualified prospect to want to follow up with you.
After revising and revisiting my own business cards several times, I stopped using any cards at all. I feel that they were a waste of money. Then, I actually created a card that began to generate leads and interest in my business. The card turned into a money-generating asset. When I figured out the actual formula and created a template of what needs to go on a business card, I instantly generated interest and qualified leads.
Let me share what happened when I created this. Instead of my card going in the circular file (trash can) when I gave it to someone, my card stands out and creates value. It has a link to an online video with a brief, yet accurate description that tells the prospect what they can expect if and when they watch my video. The front of the card highlights a "special offer" and informs them the offer is on the back of the card. Then on the back of the card I have language that has them eager to learn more about what I do and to receive a free gift that is valuable for them. I then give a link to landing page (never a website) so my prospects can download free information. This is a HUGE game changer and moves my prospects closer to the sale.
And there you have it...three quick tips to help you grow your business!
