3 Misconceptions in Marketing to Overcome
There are at least three misconceptions that you may be believing that will stop you from taking the right actions in your business. Believing in these 3 misconceptions is problematic because:
As someone who is always marketing for a living, I have seen breakthrough after breakthrough and I know that is not difficult to increase your revenue and get all the qualified leads you want, and that people just don't have the correct guidance to succeed when it comes to marketing.
A lot of people search for information online fruitlessly and, when that doesn't work, they give up. I don’t want you to give up because I know you can do this. How else can there be millions of successful businesses if it was so hard? So, they are all geniuses? No, but they did hire a marketing expert, learned what not to do in marketing and followed a proven marketing formula. And pure hard work!
Don't for a second doubt yourself and now let's realign your perspectives and make things right:
Most businesses advertise online with no results or minimal results for a lot of money. This misconception comes from people spending lots of their time, effort and money just to get prospects to follow them on social media. The truth is you don’t want to do the same lame ads and social media posts that all your competitors use. You must realize that your social media ads and posts will not convert prospects or bring you ongoing qualified prospects regularly.
This is SO not true. The internet is just another medium to screw up your marketing with bland messages that do nothing to facilitate your prospects' decision-making process. People believe this because they have been repeatedly told that social media and internet ads bring prospects to you. If you want to know what your prospect buys, you must get into their minds and you must be able to communicate your prospect’s inside reality to the outside world...to them!
The ultimate truth is your social media and ads won’t lead your prospects to say, “I would be an idiot to do business with anyone other than you, at anytime, anywhere or at any price”. I have personally had client family members who are just like you who make our heart-to-heart, no ad marketing work and so can you.
I can understand why someone would believe in this as I’ve been there myself. I have since seen time and again that ads, websites, social media don’t make what you offer instantly obvious, specifically and quantifiably, and don’t make your business better, unique and different. This is a big myth. Look at your ads, social media, website:
We once believed that marketing is advertising and is comparative by nature. That is not true anymore. While marketing’s first job is simply to get the prospect’s attention, today there are too many marketing messages to stand out. The ultimate truth is marketing used to work by just getting attention. Today, we are conditioned to ignore ads. People look at ads or social media posts and mostly see jargon “we are the best”, “we are most qualified”, “we are more convenient”, etc. This is the jargon trap! When your business has an exceptional inside reality and you are using the same jargon as everyone else, the outside perception is that your business is the same. You get ignored and prospects pay no attention to your messages.
