Well That Happened Last Week
Last week I participated in a Community Roundtable led by a panel of black students from UC Berkeley, my alma mater. They shared their own personal thoughts and experiences so that we could all learn and grow and better understand their perspectives. It was a very powerful, heart-centered event for the community and I am grateful for those who shared their voice and their thoughts with us.
Yes, I am Black but I'm not an expert on racism. If you've been following me for any amount of time, you know that my approach to life is that God created all humans in His image. Racism would not flourish if we saw every person on the planet as God’s idea...and He has no bad ideas.
I believe that we all want a better experience of life and I am going to do whatever I can to help as many people as I possibly can to do just that.
I believe we are living in a time where people everywhere are taking a look at their beliefs. This is an amazing opportunity for many to realize that we all have beliefs and interpretations that come from our subconscious and that we also have the ability to change those beliefs and interpretations.
We also have the opportunity to see that our individual interpretations and experience of the world are not the same as everyone else's. Our stories are not identical. Even though they share similarities, they are individual stories and life experiences.
We were also given the opportunity to donate to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund as a group. When I last heard, the donation was a tad over $15,000. If this is an organization you'd like to know more about, you can read more and donate here.
